Michael Carrino Gets New Armchair Host

September 19, 2007 marks the premier of “Kid Nation” on CBS and of course here at the Armchair TubeCasts Lab we can just sit still about things like this — hence “Armchair Kid Nation”. Michael teams up with daughter Gabrielle to talk about and hopefully learn something from this new television show. Even if the television show sucks, we’ll still learn something and best of all, Gabrielle can brag like a little brat that she has fans all over the world the next time Miss Pretty Pants at school tries to one up her. Let’s just hope CBS doesn’t pull this one like they did Pirate Master.

Come join us at http://kidnation.tubecasts.com Gabrielle and Mike have already recorded a preview show, so check it out.

And, yes, we’ve already been asked if there’s going to be a “super secret after show” like Keith and The Girl’s, where Marji verbally beat’s Mike’s ass for what goes on during Armchair Kid Nation.

07.07.17 Pirate Masters 1 - Haunted by Ghosts (and Insecurity)

Watching our specimens is getting more and more interesting. Once again, Pirate Master is displaying human hierarchy in ways that Survivor and The Apprentice has not. Add the Ghost Crew and this episode of Pirate Master has become an all-time-favorite. Mark Burnett has really given folks who study people a lot on which to chew.

So Jupiter got the ax. She seems like a really sweet and upstanding person in real life but un-fortunately on tonight’s episode, she caused the yelling of Jupiter: Stupider! She’d make a great neighbor and probably wonderful mom but the poor girl just ain’t got it for realty TV.

The really interesting study, though, is The Triad — especially Az and Jay. Jay is first at being second. Further more, Az is letting his ego and insecurity get in the way of good decisions. Is Jay playing him?

It’s too bad this Pirate Master was put on in the summer and that it has to stand the mediocre court of big network TV. It’s really a well done show with tons of human behavior to observe. We just hope it survives the gauntlet of simplicity.

07.07.10 Pirate Masters 1 - Bull Fluff -vs- Bull Sh*t

Tim and Nicole, Rob and Amber and now Joe Don and Nessa — well, kinda. It looks like Mark Burnett decided to make this show about pirates and not love. But there is more: this episode of Pirate Master is starting to show the folly of saying too much and using bull shit to cover up your true motives. Though Azmyth seems like a cool guy to have at a party, it looks like his over confidence concerning his ability to push his agenda with one hand while fluffing the people with another is going to come back and bite him on the ass.

In other news, lately, Mike spent a lot of time listening to “Album of the Year” by Brother Love and listening to BroLo on podcasts. All of that love came spewing all over the podcast. Clean up on isle four — stat! (”Summertime” is available on at music.podshow.com as well as iTunes)

07.07.05 Pirate Masters 1 - Pirate (Social) Dynamics

Hot looking people run around scantly clad on a pirate ship — of course, that’s interesting to Marji and Mike (in more ways than one) but what about the social dynamics? We discuss how Pirate Master has an interesting and somewhat more realistic (by way of grouping the people) social dynamics structure than both Survivor and The Apprentice.

07.06.28 Pirate Masters 1 - Trading Places And Being In Charge

Azmyth is Captian. Azmyth is not Captian. Azmyth is Captian again. He’s not the most Captain-est Captain on the show (a return counts more than a consecutive term — I think) but who is really running the show? Further more, it seems like the more you try to regulate people the more they try to cheat and the more you don’t de-regulate people the more they want to regulate themselves.

Also, Pirate Master this week seems to have a little to do with a documentary being shown now on Richard Bluestein’s Insane Films.
